Medical and legal disclaimer

The short version is below. The full text follows it.

Purpose of this website

The content on this website, including articles, guides, service pages, infographics, handouts, frequently asked questions and links (together, the "Content"), is provided by Teddy Bear Pediatrics PLLC (Teddy Bear Pediatrics & Sleep Medicine) for general educational and informational purposes only.

The Content is not medical advice and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment by a qualified health care professional who knows your or your child's history and has examined you or your child.

No physician–patient relationship

Using this website, reading the Content, or contacting the practice by phone, email or the patient portal does not create a physician–patient relationship between you or your child and Teddy Bear Pediatrics PLLC or any of its physicians or staff.

A physician–patient relationship begins only when you or your child are evaluated by one of the practice's physicians as a patient of the practice.

Information may not apply to you

Children and adults differ, and so do their conditions and treatments. Age, growth and development, other health conditions, medicines, test results, family preferences and many other factors affect which tests and treatments are appropriate.

For these reasons, information on this website may or may not apply to your or your child's situation, and results described in studies or examples may not be the results you experience.

Evidence and opinions change

Medical knowledge changes as new research is published. The Content reflects the authors' and reviewers' understanding of the evidence at the time it was written or last reviewed, as shown by the date on each page.

The opinions of the authors and reviewing physicians may change as the evidence changes, and some Content may become out of date before it is updated.

Consult your physician

Always seek the advice of your physician, your child's pediatrician, a sleep medicine physician or another qualified health care provider with any questions about a medical condition, and to discuss which specific tests or treatments may help.

Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read on this website. Do not start, stop or change any medicine, device (such as CPAP) or other treatment without talking with your health care provider.

Emergencies

This website is not for medical emergencies. If you think you or your child may have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department right away. For a possible poisoning, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222. For a mental health or suicidal crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline).

Not for legal purposes

The Content is not legal advice. It may not be used for any legal purpose, including as evidence of a standard of care, as an expert opinion, or in any legal, regulatory, insurance, school or employment proceeding or determination.

Links, sources and products

This website links to and cites outside websites, organizations and published studies. These are provided for convenience and further reading. Teddy Bear Pediatrics PLLC does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy or privacy practices of outside websites.

Mention of a specific test, device, medicine, product, organization or study does not mean that the practice endorses it or that it is right for you or your child.

No warranties

The Content is provided "as is" and "as available". While the practice tries to keep the Content accurate and current, it makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability or suitability of the Content for any purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Teddy Bear Pediatrics PLLC, its owners, physicians, employees, contractors and affiliates, and the authors and reviewers of the Content, are not responsible or liable for any loss, injury, claim or damage of any kind, whether direct, indirect, incidental or consequential, arising from or related to the use of, or reliance on, this website or its Content.

Your use of this website and its Content is at your own risk. Any decision about your or your child's health care should be made together with your own health care provider.

This disclaimer may be updated at any time. The date of the most recent change is shown at the top of this page. By using this website, you agree to the disclaimer in effect at the time of use.
